Steven J. "Steve" Dager, Sr.

Steven J. “Steve” Dager, 77, of Fort Wayne passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 with his wife and childre at his side. He was born on March 26, 1945 in Fort Wayne, son of the late Clarence and Peggy (Sonday) Dager. He attended elementary school in Roanoke, IN, graduated from North Side High School in 1963 and later attended IPFW. He attended the Indiana State Police School but ultimately found that it was not the right fit for him after which he returned to International Harvester. After many years there, he moved to Cargo Master in Goshen. He later returned to International Harvester, working until his retirement in 2006 as manager of Sales Engineering. One of Steve’s proudest achievements came in 2002 with his invention of the "land vehicle communications system and process for providing information and coordinating vehicle activities" for which he was awarded a patent. Steve was also proud to have been a part of bringing BMX racing to the Fort Wayne area; he was a founding father of Fort Wayne BMX. He was a member of the TransAm Club of America as well as the National Bicycle League. All of his family enjoyed the sport and it thus allowed them to spend much time together. He also enjoyed working on cars and antique toy car collecting. Surviving family include his wife, Pam Dager; children, Steven J. Dager, Jr., Jennifer L. “Jenny” Dager, and Bethany K. (Brian) O’Donnell; grandchildren, Seth, Kyle and Claryce Dager, Adelinn, Grace, and Isabelle Cook, and Scarlett Dager-Miller; great-grandchildren, Kaya and Aveline; and siblings, Judith (Don) Lawrence, Daniel Dager, Susan (Richard) Motz, and Patti Tyler. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his sister, Peggy Geiselman. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Fort Wayne BMX or Humane Fort Wayne.
