My goodness, Dick Fisher. I knew him first as sixth graders at Rudisill and then at North Side our last three years. Dick was an effervescent, electric sort of soul, a gushing joy emanating out of him. We played chess together, argued all manner of things, but mostly shared a mutual respect of one another's potential and future. He sparkled as a lead in the class play. He moved on to Columbia, and I to Yale. Fifty-five years can change so much, but not the memory of a boy and then a young man with a mind so fine and a zest for life that hit you as soon as you entered the room. Rest in Peace, Dick.
I would have to echo your comments as well Steve. While I didn't know Richard all that well I do remember his zest for life, always a smile and always presenting a positive attitude with his jaunty kind of walk. May you rest in peace Richard.
I remember Dick most from studying 4th year Latin together. It was a very small class....12 of us I think....and translating The Aeneid was almost fun with him. He brought life and energy to the Latin roles we played and Miss Bowen had a cookout for us at the end of the year. What an energetic fun man! Rest in peace, Dick.
My first thought when I heard of Dick Fisher's passing was the scene in the Senior Play, The Man Who Came to Dinner, when his character, Banjo, shut Vicki Jornod into a mummy's sarcophagus. It was a hoot! It's even pictured in our senior yearbook. Rest in peace, Dick.
