Biography
Cynthia “Cindy” Zehendner, 68, of Sioux Falls, died Sunday June 22, 2014. Cindy was born Dec 26, 1945 in Fort Wayne, IN to Clarence and Ruth (Wise) Coleman. She grew up with 4 older brothers, Richard (Margaret), Donald (Eileen), Gerald (Wilma), and Ronald (Maureen).
She attended Trinity Lutheran Church where she was baptized January 13, 1946 and confirmed May 17, 1959. She attended Trinity Lutheran School, North Side High School, and Indiana Purdue University at Fort Wayne.
She was united in marriage to G. William (Bill) Zehendner on June 5, 1965. They were blessed with four children Sarah (Keith) Moje of Norfolk, NE; Cherie of Harrisburg, SD; Chuck (Jackie) of Worms, NE; and Rachel (Chad) Mulder of Hartford, SD.
Cindy loved her 8 grandchildren Zachary, Christopher & Katelyn Moje; Taylor, Jessica & Colton Zehendner; and Cassia & Aleisa Mulder. She took delight in attending their numerous activities.
Over the years, she enjoyed staying home raising her children, sewing, music, reading, knitting, gardening, archery, horseback riding, working with various youth organizations, including Lincoln County 4-H, and serving on various committees at church.
In the past, Cindy worked as a church secretary at Our Redeemer Lutheran and fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a teacher at Sioux Falls Lutheran and Risen Savior preschools.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard, and infant brother.
Visitation: Thursday, June 26 from 5-7 pm at Christ Lutheran, Sioux Falls. Services: Friday, June 27 10:30 am at Christ Lutheran with Committal to follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hartford, SD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials to be given to Christ Lutheran Church of Sioux Falls.
