Sharon K. Welsh, 68, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away Friday, May 24, 2013. She was the daughter of Harold and Marjorie (nee McMillen) Bear, born December 28, 1944 in Fort Wayne, IN. Sharon was a house wife and drove semi trucks with her husband, Victor. She was of the Christian faith. Sharon will be greatly missed by her husband of 40 years, Victor A. Welsh; daughters, Dawn Schraut and Sheila Bird-Bear; son, Robert Phillips; brother, Tom Bear; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. I was in touch with Sharon for several years via Facebook. I began to get the feeling that something was physically wrong with Sharon about a month before her passing. She hinted that she had a health challenge, but was relunctant to talk about it so I just offerred at much comfort and hope as I could. I found out of her passing from her daughter with whom I am still in contact via Facebook. Rest in peace, my friend. I miss you ever so much. Michael Pletcher

I hadn't seen Sharon since graduation, in high school she lived off Wheelock Road and I lived in Hacienda Village. We rode the bus together and I have fond memories of the trip into the Dome each day. Without a friend to visit with for the duration, it was a pretty boring ride. I was saddened to learn of her death, had hoped we could do some catching up at the reunion.
